Need some relaxing spa time? We all do at some point.
Relaxing spa time was included in our family’s beach vacation! Some much-needed “rest and recuperation” for all of us… but ours came with an unexpected twist.
The kids, were out of school, with too much free time on their hands. Plus, we both looked forward to time off from work and wanting some family downtime. With two active young girls, needing full-time attention, it had been a long, hot and busy summer for us all. So off we went!
We’d arrived at our California beach-front motel. Whoo hoo!
After our long ride and unpacking, we put on our swimsuits and headed for a leisurely walk on the beach. Being low tide, we were able to see various tide pools among the rocks and view the sea creatures living there. A few shells and pretty rocks were gathered along our way. The kids really enjoyed smashing and hearing the popping sounds from seaweed pods, strewn along the wet sand. After a bit, our wet and sandy girls got our OK to wash off their excess sand in the cool, lapping water at our feet.
They wasted no time running along the beach and jumping in the small waves.
After our little excursion, it was over to the kid’s swimming pool to splash around with some other kids. Our girls could swim like seals. Dad taught them at home as wee toddlers. they played with their new-found friends while we slipped into the inviting adult spa, next to them. Did I mention adults-only spa? It seemed to be calling to us with its steam slowly rising in the cool beach air. We just wanted a few minutes of calming bubbles gently tingling around us, circulating upward from our toes, while pressure jets massaged our backs. We had just settled down into the hot, frothy foam and began to unwind when…
Our small sneaky girl, just couldn’t resist
Surprising us both, at a moment like this.
With a running head start, and in perfect form,
A BIG cannonball, she sure did perform.
While up in the air, she tucked in her tush,
She splashed in our spa with a giant “ka-splush.”
She’d aimed for the center of our steaming hot spa.
Did she know it was hot? We’re sure she did not.
Which one of us, was surprised the most?
Our girl popping up, like she’d seen a ghost!
Our daughter had never seen a hot spa before. This was her new discovery. Not exactly a relaxing spa discovery.
Tip: It might be a good idea, to at least stick your big toe in the water, to test the water’s temperature.
