Who knew, I would solve the acne problem that bothered me for years?
The acne I had, was unlike the mild, hormonal acne I had back in high school. This type only affected the sides of my nostrils. Larger, sore blemishes appeared only on one side of my nose at a time. Periodically sprouting, almost as if coinciding with a monthly menstrual cycle. But these new pimples would take a couple of weeks to heal and then another would begin, on the opposite side. It seemed I always had a yucky red nose. Finally, I said enough is enough, with these pimples and saw a Dr.
I asked my Dr. for some medication and was told that this acne was called rosacea, a type of adult acne.
Rosacea can worsen over time and it had done so. The Dr. gave me prescriptions for Doxycycline pills and a topical gel. The pills needed to be taken on an empty stomach and made me nauseous. The gel didn’t really help much either. So I learned to live with my perpetual red nose, for years. It did not improve with time either.
However, a few months ago I started the apple cider vinegar detox, to kickstart a new diet. I had gained more weight from slacking off of my usual 3-mile treadmill walk, which I did several times a week. (Being addicted to this blog seems to have taken priority over healthy exercise. This too shall change.) Anyway, I noticed that my complexion was clear and realized it had been for a few months! What gives? I’d been so involved with “life in general” I hadn’t noticed.
My red nose problem was now completely gone!
But why? What did I do differently? It had to be my morning cocktail. Just a cup of high pulp, orange juice, which has more healthy fiber, mixed with 1 tablespoon of unfiltered, apple cider vinegar. Who knew? Wow. I felt like I had discovered a new cure! I told everyone. My daughter started taking it and had the same clear results for her acne. My oldest daughter is going to try it with her 3 young girls, ages 13, 10 and 8, who are in different stages of puberty. They’re all working with oily skin and a few small blemishes. I’ll update you later.
So, I researched this new discovery and found you can also use apple cider vinegar as an astringent, for acne. What a terrific product. So many health benefits, and yet here’s another one to add to its list. I’m a believer!
